I met up with Wanda (60+) @wanda.chambers419 in Central Park. I asked her about her experiences of aging, she said, “some positive aspects - self-confidence, courage, spirituality, being able to do things with and without my husband - I’ve known him for 45 years... I’ll think I’ll be OK if he passes before me. Negative aspects - health problems, not being able to go on long walks, not having as much energy and strength...I feel highly visible, I am my brand... whenever I go out I dress up, hat, scarf, gloves, cane etc. When you look good you feel good. Being over 60 is the beginning, a new awakening! It is our next season for seasoned individuals who are shining stars - seasoned, sexy, super women 60+”! #seeandbeseen#vis#visiblen #visible #womensupportingotherwomen#por#portrait_vision#portraitphotography #portrait #womenover60#womenover60rock
Debra’s thoughts about her own aging! Engaging, beautiful and multi talented @debrarapoport (70+) spoke about her “positive aspects of aging is that being grateful for good health I have the time and freedom to do exactly what I want.
Not so positive aspects is I feel challenged by technology and I get more and more impatient and frustrated about things. Things seem more complicated and I am disinterested to solve these issues... being in front of the camera is always fun. It gives me yet another opportunity to be creative with my overall presentation giving me more courage for me to step out further...I love being with myself because there is more freedom, time to be me, time to play with others and create community” #seeandbeseen#fashionista#womenover70#wonenover60#womensupportingotherwomen#womensupportingwomen#sustainablefashion#sustainablefashionista
When beautiful and reflective Patrice (60+) @sanmiguelpatrice was asked about her aging, this is what she had to say! “As far as the positive aspects of my aging, I have a much deeper capacity for the qualities and emotional states that I treasure but have not always lived up to: loving, forgiveness, friendships, listening, being gentle with myself and others, resting, discerning, going slower, creativing, giving, feeling the overwhelm of gratitude to life, to my loved ones, to my friends, to mentors throughout my life. And then there’s the not-so-positive aspects of it all - I am more self conscious of my body (flabby arms, for example) but not willing to go to gym to improve muscles mass, so downside of acceptance is acceptance; shocked by how fast I’ve slowed down but enjoying being a slower human and not rushing at the same time as I am slightly judgmental of myself for being so “pokey” so I am conflicted about it...”! #seeandbeseen#womenover60#artist#color#positiveageing#agepositive#portraits#portraitphotographer
