Slowly beginning to practice solo transcriptions like I should have been doing for years. Here’s Chet Baker’s solo on his track ‘You’re Driving Me Crazy’, 1958.
Inspiration from @jwaughsaxophone and his collection of transcription videos (including this one) which motivated to give this a go!
Thank YOU @sze@szentekuk! It was beyond a pleasure to play up in St. Andrews with the amazing Jute City Jam (@maxjcj) for a ridiculous set of funk and disco - I’ll be coming to Dundee for sure to do it all again.
Massive shoutout to @lilstonerdiva and @mrbeans_shitflix from Chaos In The CBD, and @kornelkovacs for stealing the show and smashing their sets - an honour to have been in the same line up!

I recorded this clip in the summer after an evening of gigs playing jazz standards with @tomharrisisacommonname (delightful) - I had such fun crooning over this melody I thought I’d share. The first sax player I really listened to before I started saxophone was Paul Desmond on the Dave Brubeck Quartet album ‘Time Out’, and that classic West Coast sound has been a huge influence on my playing - especially on lovey ballads like this!
The tune is ‘Crazy He Calls Me’, famously performed by Billie Holiday.
Back at the @606club this evening with Dino Baptiste and the band! If you were keen for a night of blues, Boogie Woogie and general frivolity then this is exactly what need.
I wasn’t meant to be in London yesterday, but I got my arm twisted to jump on the train and join Dino Baptiste and Evan Jenkins on stage at the Blues Bar in Carnaby Street - I can’t believe I even had to think about it! A fantastic gig and a great crowd in a legendary venue. Here’s a clip taken by @jenchuchu of my solo in Dino’s track ‘Two Timing Lover Boy’
