✏️ fifth grade lovin' teacher 🍎 TPT: Texas Lone Star Teacher
This message has resonated with me for so long. It’s @utaustintx’s slogan that I’ve carried with me into teaching since graduating. I put my all into creating a classroom of love and acceptance where my ultimate goal is to empower my students to show this outside of our four walls and into our future. I whole heartedly believe that the change we are creating as educators is immeasurable. We have to keep going, keep doing, and keep empowering. This is our constant. ❤️

If we could all teach with @theamygroesbeck or have her retire early to focus on making custom anchor charts for us, then we’d be golden. 🙌🏼 Swipe to see some life changing posts like her Mac icon tutorial, her fonts that are everywhere on my boards (vol.1&4 are my faves ❤️), and checkout her IG for even more! I guarantee you’ll want to save every post of hers. 😉

The Day Designer monthly planner at Target is ALMOST everything I need in life. If it could remind me to take attendance daily before the front office buzzes and calls me out in front of my class, then that’d be perfect! (This is my year to get it right, I know it! 😆) Other than that it’s amazing and I’m going on my second year with it. ❤️

I’m coming up on my 8th year of teaching, and every year changes! I definitely didn’t start with ANY of this furniture, and I’m def not paying for all of it either. 😉 I’ve made sure everyone around me knows to not throw anything out, because I’m ready to take their junk! On top of that I check FB marketplace, Craigslist in Austin (a college town), and I used to see people throwing good stuff all the time when we lived in an apartment. When it comes to flex seating you can totally invite your students to bring items from home like I did when I taught second. Get creative before you splurge! Let others know your mission and keep an open mind when you come across something this summer. 😎

What makes reading over the summer so special this time around is that I’m moving up as the 5th grade reading teacher after having taught this group in second and fourth. We’ve been on one incredible book journey! My summer reading list just got ten times better thanks to @harperchildrens! One book I had to jump right into was The Confidence Code for Girls. The chapters are full of graphic novel strips, lists and quizzes, and girls of action stories. It’s everything I needed at their age, and everything I’m so excited to share with my girls. ❤️ Swipe to see the other books and a peek inside this one. 😉

Y’all already know @teachcreatemotivate is crazy creative, and if you don’t you’ll see what I mean!❤️ Right now I’m saving posts of cozy classroom nooks, digital resources that can be used all throughout the year, and posts that show me the way to complete classroom independence during small group time! 🙌🏼 Ashley has all of those, and I’m excited to see what she creates next. 😉

The answer is yes...yes, you can actually love a pencil more than a presharpened pack of Teconderogas gifted to you on the first day of school! I couldn’t love my custom pencil more from @lorimcdonough. We’re saying “I do” July 1st on a cruise this summer, and it’s a little surreal seeing my new last name actually on something! ✏️💛
