What I learned from my first race back in over 4 years ๐Ÿšตโ€โ™‚๏ธ _ After having a big break from racing the last few years. And coming back with honestly very little preparation. There was a lot of takeaways that everyone can learn from... _ 1๏ธโƒฃ Bike Time is King! After having only 28 hours of bike time in the last 2 years and less than 1 hour on the new bike before this race. I know it sounds obvious, but nothing can prepare you for your racing better than good old bike time. With very high fitness and strength levels, but little 'race fitness' I have pulled up very worse for wear after these races. But it just follows what I have been saying this whole time... Your off bike training is only there to SUPPLEMENT your training on the bike. It should not replace it. Bike time is going to be massive moving forward from here. _ 2๏ธโƒฃ Be Prepared With such a long time off the bike, I was definitely out of routine and a lot of the little things throughout the day, off the bike, let me down. Not being prepared to clean the mud off the bike after a very muddy practice, driving myself down the day of the race and being very rushed to get everything ready before practice. Little things like that can make it hard to be ready to go when you need to. _ 3๏ธโƒฃ Have a Routine This is kind of tied in with the last point. But having a routine for what to do before every time you get on the bike and on the start line is very important. It helps set you up, frame the mindset and intention and helps with consistency. Having time off, I definitely need to create a new routine to properly prepare myself for my races. _ There were also many other takeaways that were a little more individual. But these 3 are very generic and are something that everyone can benefit from. _ All in all, was a very great weekend, was extremely happy with how the new bike performed thanks to @fra@fraser_honda with a couple little tweaks going on this week in preparation for East Coast MX Rnd1 this weekend at Lakes MX. @frasermotorcyclesnewcastle @fraser_honda @honda_mc @dmkdesigns13 @dewar.2nine2 @motoendurance
