Written by: @maxweberfit ⠀⠀ 🤔 The answer is… ⠀⠀ YES! ✅ ⠀⠀ 👍🏼 Portion Size does matter whether your fitness goals is to lose body fat, build lean muscle, grow your booty or just get strong AF! ⠀⠀ 👉🏼 And here’s why: ⠀⠀ ▪️ By controlling portions we control our total calorie intake, which in turn dictates whether our weight goes up, down or remains the same. ⠀⠀ ▪️ By controlling portions we are able to eat the foods we enjoy (especially “fun” foods like cookies, pizza and ice cream) because we can account for their calorie-density and limit the amount we consume. ⠀⠀ ▪️ By controlling portions we become aware of the amounts, and types of foods we eat, along with their relative macronutrient breakdown. ⠀⠀ ▪️ By controlling portions we can control how sustainable our nutrition plan is by avoiding binge eating and optimizing our nutrition for mostly healthy foods (the 80/20 rule). ⠀⠀ 🌅 At the end of the day, controlling portion size really enables us to eat all the foods we enjoy — both healthy, and maybe not so healthy — and gives us the flexibility to choose what foods we want to make up our total calorie intake for the day. ⠀⠀ 📝 It’s also important to note that some portions add up much quicker than others (almonds are very calorie dense, so paying close attention to portion size here is more important than something like celery, which has almost negligible calories). ⠀⠀ Make sense to you? 🤪 Comment “🍎” if you enjoyed this post! I did not know this. - Did you know tonic water has calories!? I didn’t… - I was at a club with my friend, David, and he told me that tonic water is just carbonated water. I believed him, but when I drank my gin & tonic… It was super sweet. I asked him if he was sure and then he reassured me. - Two weekends later, I wonder why tonic water is just not called club water? I see them bottled with two different labels. So I decided to investigate... - Lo and behold… Tonic water has sugar in it… 35g of sugar/carbs per 12 fluid ounces. That’s about 124 calories. - Since I am going out this weekend, I am definitely going to avoid getting gin and tonic again. I am sticking to gin & diet Coke or whatever diet flavored mixer.
