Day 18 of my Camino de Santiago: Writing from my bed in the albergue at Foncebadón a quarter before 10 at night. I am staying in the attic room of an albergue with a million dollar mountain view with newfound friends from Louisiana, Spain, and Germany. The walk along the Camino was uphill all of today, with the end being the steepest. As such, it is rather cold outside despite it being summer in Spain. The highlight of today has to be the dinner we had at the albergue. Over vegetarian paella and salad (first sighting of so much vegetables in days!) and cheese and cuts of meat and wine and water and dessert, we had a lively discussion ranging from the World Cup to Austrian Spanish accents and German punctuality. Signing off with laughter and happiness at newfound connections.
