Well we must be on trend, as @theeconomist has declared 2019 YEAR OF THE VEGAN. With THREE new vegan dishes launching on 1 March we're super excited to be focusing on plant-based meal options. Locally, the numbers show that 75% of South Africans who lead a healthy lifestyle are leaving meat off their plates at least once a week. South Africa also had the 5th highest sign-ups for last month’s global Veganuary campaign. Isn't this amazing!!

Vegan tomato quiche by 📸 @frei_style via @vegangotgame #vegangotgame ❤ Recipe: Ingredients Dough: 250 gr spelt flour 120 gr butter (vegan) 1/2 tsp salt 60 ml water (cold) 2 Tbsp sesame seeds Filling: 300-350 gr fresh grape tomatoes 1 garlic clove Fresh herbs such as thyme, basil, oregano, rosemary 2 Tbsp soy flour mixed with 5 Tbsp water 400 gr silken tofu (drained) 20 gr Olive oil 1 Tbsp starch 2 Tbsp yeast flakes ½ - 1 tsp salt Pepper Nutmeg 2 Tbsp breadcrumbs Method Dough: Knead all ingredients well and place in fridge for 30 minutes . Filling: Put all ingredients, except the fresh herbs, in a mixer and mix well until it becomes smooth Chop the fresh herbs well and add to the glaze Wash grape tomatoes and cut in half Put the dough into a greased quiche pan, pierce with a fork and sprinkle 2 Tbsp breadcrumbs on it Place the raw tomatoes on it and pour the glaze all over them Bake at 180°C (356°F) for 40-50 minutes. Baked Sweet Potato & Purple Fries by 📸 @thevegansara via @vegangotgame #vegangotgame 🍟 Recipe: Ingredients 4 medium purple sweet potatoes & purple sweet potatoes 11/2 tbs olive oil 1 tsp sea salt 1 tsp black pepper 1 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp paprika powder How to make: STEP 1 Preheat oven to 200°C/400°F. STEP 2 Wash potatoes under running water by rubbing them well with your hands. There is no need to peel the potatoes. STEP 3 Cut the potatoes into fry-shaped pieces (about 1/2 cm each). Try to cut them into similarly sized pieces. Add the potatoes to a large bowl. STEP 4 Sprinkle cut potatoes with sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika powder. Drizzle with olive oil. Toss everything together to coat. STEP 5 Spread the potatoes in a single layer on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Make sure the potatoes aren't overcrowded, otherwise they will stick together and won't crisp up. STEP 6 Bake the potatoes in the oven for about 30-40 minutes. Enjoy!
