My friend, Maria, shares,
I am so honored to have had the opportunity to share my story at the Seattle Opportunity of a Lifetime event last night!
We were a family that lived paycheck to paycheck with great jobs but still.... I’ll admit, I had a bad habit of spending what I didn’t have ($) I maxed out every single credit card I owned and barely gave the minimum payment. If we traveled we put it on a credit card, came back after our trip to make payments on it. Ugly cycle, I know!!
I know what it’s like to go into a grocery store and be very careful of the total bill & to have to put stuff back on the shelf! We lived it!
3 1/2 years ago I relocated to new place where my husband had moved for a new job. Thank goodness for my unemployment because that barely covered the minimum payments on my credit cards. It was difficult moving to a new place, not knowing anyone and no family close by. I didn’t want to work, I didn’t want to put my children in childcare, I didn’t know anyone! Who would watch my children? Where would I work and what would I do? Sadly my comfort zone was in our home and in unemployment. I had even considered bankruptcy at the time so that I could stay home by shutting down my credit cards! Honestly I didn’t see a way out!
