Play: the vehicle through which children learn. As an early childhood educator, I know this so well. You can have just as effective learning through naturally occurring play interactions as you can through a well-planned, seated lesson. In fact, most of my Master’s program was learning how to, well, master this. ✨ * I see this with new eyes in my own child. Our favorite playground is the great outdoors, but Lucy always has to have an accessory with her. On this day, it was a fake ice cream cone and a cheap plastic dinosaur she has dubbed “Baby Arlo”. 🦕 * The sky was a perfect rolling cloudy, the air was fresh. We filled our lungs and chased birds and bunnies and I somehow found that elusive balance of being present in and capturing the moments. I was delighted to have captured so many of my sweet girl in action. Swipe left to see more for yourself, and tell me how you play, below! ❤️

Big brothers have transitioned to their own beds in their own room but this girl will stay with us for a bit longer. #bedsharing #cosleepingfamily #thoughshebebutlittle

Looking back at this past year of dance as it comes to an end, with all its many ups and downs. I’m so grateful for each moment, good and bad — especially the hard moments that had so much to teach me. SO ready to take on some brand new goals! . . wearing: @sodancausa pc: @nyldabeatriz . . #letsdothis #sodanca #weknowdance #leogotback #SDFashion2 #allheart #courage #grateful #hustle #heart #unstoppable #watchme #thoughshebebutlittle #thoughshebebutlittlesheisfierce #ballerina #bunhead #portrait #mood #dancephotography #browngirlsdoballet #noe

I follow a lot of little transplant kiddos on Facebook. Little warriors. So many parents post about “another thing that this kid can’t do.” My whole life, no matter how sick I was, my parents never told me there were things I couldn’t do. They never wanted us to be pitied or for me to feel like I was “less than” because of my circumstances and I thank them everyday. That attitude got me through OT school. It lead me to Adam. And it got me to Manhattan. It got me to be a swimmer. A triathlete. A half marathon runner. That attitude made me strong and fierce. Parents should empower little warriors like I was. It will make them into fierce adults. #thursdaytruths #donttellmewhaticantdo #run#run#runnergirl #athlete #transplantrecipient #littlewarrior #thoughshebebutlittle #transplantathlete #runner #runnergirl
