GLUTE minimus and medius..?!?! Everything at the moment; yoga, walking, sitting, standing and climbing is exacerbating an on going hip/hamstring/lower back movement disfunction that is causing a variety of outcomes.
I woke this morning feeling energized after climbing last night and with the intention of practicing an energizing dynamic sequence ...but after 15 mins of moving my body said; NO! And my practice came to a rather abrupt halt from intense pain triggered by a standing splits pose. So I listened and had to stop and spent the next 2hrs using trigger point release to find a way to ease the pain.
I gained an injury last year..after doing a fast paced 45minute run I stretched a little afterwards before starting weights..as I moved mindfully into a wide leg forward bend there was a large bang as I felt something go in my left hip. Couldn't tell what it was at the time..and there weren't immediate effects of pain or immobility. But gradually over the last 6 months changes have become more noticeable.
I've been to osteopaths, physios, chiropractors, massage therapists etc to try and understand better what's going on in my body..why my back is regularly going into spasm, why my left glute and hip is causing so much pain and why the on going sciatica. I've been given an array of different causes.
The body is complex and fascinating and when injury occurs or patterns of pain develop one can't just look at the symptom, the site of pain, but must take in the whole..the whole relationship. I've been researching, moving and accessing trigger points to try to suss this out..and I think I it's my glute minimus and medius..these little blighters are causing a lot of the pain pathways and loss of strength and mobility in my left side.
The task now is to find out why these muscles are being triggered themselves and to then give them the love and attention they need.
Anyone out there had something similar?
