My philosophy on it is when you’re in battle and you’re fighting for your life, will you lay down and say I can’t do it or are you gonna get up off your ass and continue the fight. We pushed each other yesterday real hard which benefited all of us. A common theme I use when training with fellow law enforcement officers is your team is only as strong as the weakest link... do you want to be that weakest link that brings your team down? Do you want to be that weakest link that gets someone hurt? Do you want to be that weakest link that even worse gets a partner killed and them not being able to go home at the end of the shift to their loved ones? Easy answer to all these questions is “NO”. I was very much into weight lifting and just wanting to get bigger, but as I got older I continued to implement different (not new), but new stuff to me... starting adding cardio, and then watched the diet closer, and now as of late I’m realizing the incredible importance and benefits of functional and compound movements. Functional movements will benefit you in your everyday life....your functional movements. . Yesterday after finishing my lifting (chest/tri) and cardio, I wanted to complete a challenge that was handed to me. . I have been adding a ton of box jumps and hurdles into my splits when it’s “deck of cards” day, but I’ve never did the seared box jumps. I have never in my life been able to get ups as I could barely ever touch the rim back in the day. The workouts are benefitting as displayed here. Practice your functional exercises, do the compound movements, try things that make you feel uncomfortable, don’t be afraid to fail, hit the explosive movements!!! .
