🍂Weaving in progress....using my naturally dyed yarn. Such a relaxing project but I’m not sure if the tufted areas are in the right location...🤔 maybe I should trim them a bit shorter or just remove them altogether...

gifting this wonderful new book by #textileartist friend @katrinarodabaugh to my artist/farmer mom for thanksgiving ... my mother taught me how to be thankful re: materials + local resources, so it only seems apropos to #connect these women in space and time to celebrate how far we have come with daily acts of #visiblemending .. [ including all those fence repairs i did with my mom trying to keep the sheep and cows in on our farm ] ➰congratulations➰Katrina, on this phenomenal project and recent publication ... follow the trail to learn more about how to gift give ‘Mending Matters’ to someone you love as well | #mymendingmatters #slowtextiles #hudsonvalley to #leatherstocking #studio #pioneeringwomen #givingthanks #repair

My lookbook is finally live on my website! And selected products from my new range are in my webshop too. Thanks again so much to @chloegrayson for photography and @anetelusina for modelling. Photo shoots are something I've come to really enjoy about the process of making new work and helps me to see a project as something that could be concluded at that point, instead of endlessly never seeing a piece as finished. My design process has been deliberately turned on its head, now being confined within a small box of materials I can use, instead of previously, where like many designers I think, I found materials that worked with a design idea. I would never change that now as the yarns are something I am proud of and worked so hard on the responsible and ethical sourcing of them, that this process could never be removed from my work now; ethical sourcing of my materials is now a backbone and I will learn to work around the yarns I can get. So we'll see whether I will end up seeing these pieces as finished objects or as I suspect, they will be tweaked and developed with more time to play with the small amounts of my lovely yarns. For now, the lookbook is a record of where I am now and something I can look back at as a tangible part of the elusive thing known as progress. Pictured here is one of my new story scarves, in dusk pink. Available now.
