This is how I feel at work whenever I need to review policy/procedures for something. On another note, the big book of “How to do Medical Stuff Good” seems like a guaranteed bestseller, doesn’t it? I’d buy that for a dollar! . . Tag a nurse/doctor/RT/tech/med prof! How’s everyone’s week?! I’ve successfully taken my first exam of the semester and even got some clinical practice in afterwards. This wound is a stage 4 ulcer. _______________________ Focus: wound care ; sterile technique (maintaining sterile field, gloving, cleaning, packing, and bandaging). Enjoy!! #nur#nursingschool #nurse #nursingstudent #stu#studente #student #nursethings #learning #clinicals #scrubs #scrubslife #stethoscope #littmann #littmannstethoscope #nurselife #nurse💉 #nurse💉💊 #nursing #studentproblems #2019 #plantosucceed #prep #clinicalday #clinicaldays #longday

Shadowing in Interventional Radiology was hands down, one of the coolest experiences. Previous to this day, I had only shadowed a DO in private practice. Shadowing the DO involved watching OMT first-hand and seeing how much of a connection there is between pain within the body and emotion. It doesn't have to be woo woo -- even just the core concept that when you are in pain, emotions come with that. When pain is released through manipulative therapy, some form of emotion is released. Seeing that first hand and watching the physician-patient connection was unique and felt very...human. You could truly see how much energy she put in to each patient.⁣⁣⁣⁣ -⁣⁣⁣⁣ My IR experience was in an academic setting, watching procedures (minimally invasive surgeries)⁣ for about 8 hours. The craziest part of the whole experience was that you could also see how much these physicians cared. The effort that they put in to make sure that the patient felt comfortable in their environment, had their favorite music playing and knew all of the staff in the room. The lead physician always held the patient's hand right after surgery and told them that they did great. Every single time.⁣⁣⁣ -⁣⁣⁣ I think I'm starting to realize that there is a holistic approach to medicine in all of its forms -- private practice, surgery, MD, DO... It isn't all just cutting, listening, prescribing, or hands-on therapy. It's up to us to be the kind of physicians that we want to be, regardless of our title or specialty. My eyes are really opening to how much the ball is in our court when it comes to medicine.⁣⁣⁣ -⁣⁣⁣ Up next -- shadowing geriatrics today! 🌞⁣⁣
