Things should be labelled, not people. This isn't a demo of how many adjectives I know, these are labels that I have been given over the course of my life. Labels have been used to create in-groups and seperate people for years and as a South African, brown girl, I'm no stranger to labelling. The negative labels in bold text were much easier to think of and some brought back the cringe worthy memory. We need to stop teaching our children rhymes about how words can't hurt them, we need to teach them how to respond effectively when called a nasty name, so that they can educate the labeller. My accent (you don't sound Indian), the way I smell (you smell really good for an Indian) and my ability to understand math (oh I thought you Indians were good with numbers) have been used as a social identifier by various people and I'm met with surprised responses when I fall outside of the individuals self created label. I know I'm not alone here. Outside of all these labels, I am a human being and we should all spend more time getting to know each other, rather than conforming to labelling. #love #quotesaboutlife #positivity #positivequotes #value #tbt #inspire #motivate #motivationalquotes #inspirationalquotes #quotestagram #kindness #happiness #pos#positivevibesonly #positivevibes #positivethinking #dailyinspiration
