As much as I love school and all the learning that comes with it, I can honestly say I can’t wait to be done, I need a break. I started my first year of undergrad in September 2011, so that means almost 8 years of being in university. In those eight years I have experienced so much, and grown tremendously (academically, personally and professionally). But the most important thing I have learnt is how to be the best person I can be in order to help my clients the best I can. As I near the end of my practicum I am required to look back on my clients and create a case conceptualization on them. This means looking back on the past six months and reporting the progress my clients have made. But I can’t help but reflect on the progress and growth I’ve made. Although my current assignment is about analyzing my clients it is also about everything I have been through to get to where I am now. #mastersstudent #psychologistinthemaking #therapy #counsellor #psychotherapy #2monthsuntilgraduation

➕Understand the why➕ . Starting and maintaining a thriving practice begins with this question: . “Why do I want this?” . A simple but important question. . I always encourage people to define The who, what, where, and how. And, mostly importantly, the why. . So, what’s your why? . I’d like to share mine with you. I started answering it as far back as beginning grad school. . I wanted to be a therapist because it offered the opportunity to extend loving kindness to others, to be creative, to influence human life in a positive way. I also wanted to be a mom at some point & I knew I needed a career that offered flexibility. . After graduating, I found that my jobs weren’t offering most of the things that were included in my “why”. So, I had to consider how I could find those things. Private practice was my answer. . I had more why’s at that point, too. . A desire to push past the status quo - being a therapist didn’t need to mean horribly low wages & bad working conditions. Being a therapist could mean offering services to people at a fair rate, being paid fairly, and having a fair and safe working space. It could also mean being a mom. . Being in private practice has allowed me the things I had hoped for. I make a living while being connected with my husband & baby more often than not. I have a business built on community & care rather than competition and managed care. . I hope that for you, too. . Let’s chat. Book your free 30 min. consult in my bio. I promise it’s not a gross sales call. We will talk for real - about your why or your how or your what or your where. . I’m here when you’re ready!

So I work in an industry that affords me high stakes negotiating where people trust me implicitly. I've adapted my personality traits to a career where my abilities are celebrated with money and accolades. I like to hope that I have put my more unsavory tendencies in the past. If you are like me, take note it can be done. #Psychology #psy#psychosts #psychopath #psychopathy #antisocialpersonalitydisorder #sociopath #sociopathic #mentalhealth #antisocialclub #psycho #dissocialpersonalitydisorder #apd #promiscuity #fakepersonality #clientpatientconfidentiality #drgrande #psychotherapy #psy#psychiatryhelp #mentalillnes #mentalhealthrecovery #selfawareness #narcissism #machiavelli #psychiatry #psychoanalysis @endthestigmasoon

Mistakes are made, hearts are broken, flowers die.. but that shouldn’t stop you planting new ones.. Times can get tough, but you can’t let everything around you fall apart.
