Oh what a difference a year makes! . The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. - Psalm 121:5 . The shade that God’s presence provides may not always be as visually evident (it certainly isn’t in the moment)... but He is always always providing shade from the scorching heat of this desert. He will keep His people.

I lift my eyes to the mountains- where does my help come from? . My help comes from the lord, the maker of heaven and earth. (psalm 121:1-8)The universe, the angels. . He will not let my foot slip. . . I’m looking through an old journal and realize that I trust god, the universe, angels, whatever you want to call it—when things are going good. . It’s that much harder to trust god when things are going wrong. When life is messy. When I don’t know what my next move is. When I don’t know where to turn. This journal is from 3 years ago, almost down to the day that I wrote this. . I asked God to give me strength because with him I know I am stronger. . 3 years later and I’m still asking for strength, but I sure as hell feel stronger too. Will I ever feel strong enough? . With God, all things are possible. And together we can accomplish a lot. . It’s interesting looking back to that person I was three years ago. Having the same wants but also feeling completely different. . .

Sometimes when we are facing trials they seem like everything but a blessing. A trial is defined as "a tryout" that tests the quality, value, or usefulness of something. Usefulness. I would safely say that if you are someone who wants to be used by God, then you would need to be useful, right? In order to be used by God we have to grow. Anyone will tell you, the way you grow in life is through your life experiences. There is no such thing as instant quality of life. You need those situations (that are great and less than) to grow. You need those hardships to help mold you into a steadfast follower of Jesus. Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life." James 1:12 (MSG). The truth is that God wants you to live fully in your purpose. He rewards the brave and courageous. The ones who are not easily shaken and stand firm in purpose. An unwavering believer, full of knowledge and boldness. Everyone will end up in the valley at some point in their life. When we find ourselves in the valley...in the shadows...we need to remember where our help comes from, our Maker, and we need to cling to it. (Psalm 121). Remember sweet friend, every time you are put through the fire you will come out more refined and stronger than before.
