. #cielmondoctorat #doctorante #jadoremonjob #doctorat #phdhappiness #phdmotivation #whatilove #fewofmyfavoritethings #phdjourney #phdlife #phdstudent #gottabeyourpurpose #idealist #coucherdesoleil #sun#sunsetlovers #sunset #sunsetsniper #sunsetscape #skysultans #torino #ilcielosutorino #iphone8plus #iphoneography #picoftheday #bestpic #sunset_stream

I have no idea why I love studying for phd this much❤️❤️ From work, kids, home, cooking, etc. I have very little time left for my phd studies but I still love to experience that little time 😀😀 I may not be normal 😂😂😂😂😂😂#phd #phdstudent #phdmom #phdmama #phdmum #phdcandidate #phdmommylife #phdwithkids #mamastudent #studymom #studymotivation #phdmotivation #phdlife #phdjourney

Oh, hey. Just me hanging out in my office. Trying to analyse how learners wrap their minds around curved space and warped time. Have a great start to the new week, everyone. 🤓 • • • • • #ScienceEducation #phd#phd#phda> #phdlife #phd #STEM #spa#spa#space #space #time #physics #astronomy #math #space #scientist #research #science #stem #education #learning #gradschool #gradschoollife ##phdstudent #phdlifestyle #academiclife #Blindern #UiO #phdstudentsofinstagram #phdmotivation #blackwhite #monday #mondaymorning

CHANGING PERSPECTIVE 🗻 My friend Martina (@science_exercises.eu) challenged my to make a post about changing perspective. This comes in coincidence with the publication of my article on storiesinscience.org. They asked me to share my experience as #gradstudent and tell how my PhD training is empowering me 👊💪 . . Three key points:✔ CAREER OPTIONS OUTSIDE ACADEMIA ARE NOT FAILURE. Let's talk about the facts 📊📈📉rather than personal opinions. Only 3% of PhD students make their way to a lectureship. This isn't only science, 3% is based on all students in all disciplines. There's no space for everyone in #academia. Plus have you heard about the temporary academic staff? Finding a spot in university is so hard that postdocs/researchers are forced into casual teaching with poor salary and no benefits (pension). 💸💸 Precariat, which is something you would expect if you were uneducated with no skills, is getting a reality also for highly-qualified, skilled scientists 😠 . . Hence, ✔HAVING AN OPEN MIND ABOUT ACADEMIA IS CRUCIAL. PhD is a training and it's all about learning. Be curious about your #research and also about everything else. Doing research is what you paid for, but if you looking for career options outside academia and potentially beyond your field of study, you should definitely doing something else in your spare time. . . #scicomm, writing for magazines📝, joining a society🏄 or being more active 🏃with students' unions are all good activities. ✔These extra-curricular activities AREN'T WASTE OF TIME. You'll gain a wide range of transferable skills. This, in addition to your abilities to design research, make hypothesis based on observations, have a rational approach to solve problems, will make you a perfect candidate for any job. . . One year ago, I created my website to share all this with my fellow PhD students. Be aware of your potential, abilities and skills. The fact that you're doing something so challenging is already a success. PhD is success. 🎉🎊 . . I challenge @scigirlsash and @fepinheirogram to make a post and say how their PhD is empowering them. . Any comment is welcomed #phdlife #phdtosuccess #PhenomenalPhemale #believeinyourself

#sti#stillascientist can you believe it? Why are we still talking about this? . . @biologistimogene was harassed a few days ago and being told that someone so pretty can't do #science 😨😨😨 @meriameberboucha @soph.talks.science and @science.bee (all profiles which I recommend following) already gave an answer to such nonsense and it's time for me to support the #scicommunity . . Who am I outside the lab? . . 👊I'm a runner. I go running 3 times a week. I've done half a marathon last year and training to run another one this year . . 📝I have a website called phdtosuccess.com where I give tips to grad students on how to be successful during gradschool . . 🎥 I have a YouTube channel. I literally taught myself howto do video editing and being awesome on camera . . . 💃 I take bachata classes every Thursday night. I love dancing and let my femininity kick off once a week . . 🍕🍝 As a good Italian, I love good food and I love cooking every day. I love being healthy and promoting healthy lifestyle . . 🌍🌏🌎 I love travelling. I've visitited all the most popular European capitals on a student salary. . . . 🎇I love looking at my best every day. This is a form of self respect. If you want people to love you, you have to love yourself first. . . In conclusion, science and scientists should be judged according to the quality of their science, the rigor of their scientific evidence and contribution to the field. . . Looking glamorous is a personal decision which has nothing to do with science and quality of science. . . .
