If you are training your biceps then pull the resistance with your biceps, not with the help of your shoulders, and make sure to make it do all the work, slowly. . . Another controversial exercise is the Rear Neck Barbell Shoulder Press, for messing up the rotator cuff of numerous weight trainers over the years, but it's also an exercise which I've been regularly doing for the past 14yrs. Here's what regular folks do to get injured, firstly they lift heavy as fuck, as if it's a show of strength. Secondly, their instincts is to push the bar away from the back of their head, which majorly compromises the integrity of your shoulder joint. Thirdly, there's no time under tension, because the weight and form both is so fucked up, that the bar is not under their control. Hence, these 3 factors result in long term injury. Here's what I do, whether it's for hypertrophy or strength gains, I include time under tension which doesn't allow me to load the bar with uncontrollable weight, and that factor alone keeps everything in check, helps me keep a good form, doesn't allow me to go below my earlobes and helps me achieve eveything am training for safely. . .
