Appreciating the fuck outta my curls right now ➿➿
Since starting the curly girl method, I’ve received a lot of questions about what it is and what products I use.
At its core, CG Method is about not heat styling your hair (with the except of diffusing on low heat), not dry brushing (since that contributes to damage), and not using products with sulfates and silicones (which destroy the integrity of your curls).
I started following the method 6 months ago. I’ve used different approved products, but right now here’s my routine:
•I wash once a week. Before I wash, I do an oil scalp massage to promote hair growth. I was making my own oil combo, but yesterday I bought @curls Blueberry Hair Growth Oil, so I’ll be using that!
•Shampoo with @sheamoisture Coconut Hibiscus shampoo
•Deep condition with Shea moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil treatment hair mask
•squish to condish (google the technique) with Curl’s Blueberry Bliss Leave-in conditioner
•apply a small amount of Curl’s crème brûle curl crème
•use a cheap knock-off version of the @denmanbrush to distribute product
•scrunch in Shea Moisture JBCO max gold gel
•scrunch our excess water and product with a t-shirt (not a towel because that makes hair frizzy!!)
•diffuse! Sometimes I’ll clip the roots if I’m feeling extra
•once completely dry, I’ll scrunch out the crunch (google technique) with some oil, fluff it up, shake the roots, and voila baby ➿➿➿
Maybe it seems high maintenance, but keep in mind I only have to do this once a week! It beats constantly heat styling my hair—and my hair is so much healthier!
If you have naturally textured hair, from waves to curls to kinks, I highly recommend embracing it and learning how to care for it 💕 ask me questions! 👇🏻👇🏻
