MOVEMENT IS ESSENTIAL❤
I can not stress the importance of movement enough. The human body was made to move, so why are we doing all of this time sitting?! The sedentary lifestyle is enjoyed by many in westernized societies - our jobs/schooling allows us to sit all day and then we go home and sit some more. And there is this excuse of a lack of time. As concluded by David Raichlen, an anthropologist and exercise sciences at the University of Arizona, "the human bodies likely evolved to need and respond to the kind of physiological demands." There is a fundamental mismatch and we are going against what our bodies need and love.
The key thing to doing consistent exercise is to find something you like doing. Exercise does not have to mean going to the gym (unless that's your thing). It can mean dancing in your room, doing yoga, barre, or Pilates, going on a walk/jog/run outside, biking inside or out, skiing, snowboarding, or anything else as long as you get your body to move. You can benefit from even 10 minutes of exercise. You will notice an increase in your mood, energy, focus/attention, clarity, aches/pains and so many more benefits inside and out.
Another thing I'd like to mention is to listen to your body and what it is asking for. Note that this doesn't mean not to push yourself on days that you're tired or rather stay in bed. But if you honestly need that extra hour of sleep, then take it. If you are feeling up to go to the gym, but don't feel up to a high-impact exercise like running, then choose a lower impact exercise, such as yoga, walking or light jogging.
I don't talk about this a lot on here, but it is so important and such a big part of my life. Comment below your favourite way to move your body 💕
🤔Guess what folks? We sit too much! And it’s wreaking havoc on our bodies. It’s true that working out can make you healthier but one workout cannot undo 8-10 hours of sitting each day. We need to move more. Not only for our bodies, but for our minds as well. Start being aware of how much time in your day is spent sitting down. And then find ways to break that up & move more!
