Searching out what your body is asking for is not selfish or foolish or too expensive or hippy voodoo or anything other than SMART!👌🏻 . One thing I have learned on my healing journey and stuck to is that I NEED to listen to my body and give it what it needs. Today it needed mental clarity and liquid sunshine, so that’s what I gave it! . Don’t let fear, doubt or uncertainty be excuses. Love your body and start the healing.

Happy Wellness Wednesday! My trapezius is still pulled and I'm still uncomfortable, so instead of getting a workout in, I foam rolled when I got home from work! You guys, just remember, if you aren't taking care of your body when it is essential, you won't be able to work out at all! Listen to your body so that having to take a couple of days off doesn't turn into needing to take a couple of weeks or months off!! I've never been one to follow the trends. I always listen to my body and make judgement calls for my workout plan accordingly. 🤷‍♀️ But bottom line- I get a workout in everyday expect Sunday. 👊💯 . I did each move 3 times with 20 reps each. Afterwards I completed a “burn out” mode of all moves for 60 seconds. #workoutwednesday alternatives Yesterday I wrote about why you shouldn’t skip planned workouts, even if you’re not feeling the gym. But just because you train doesn’t mean you have to crush yourself. Sometimes it’s more productive to take a step back and modify your planned workout, especially if you still aren’t feeling well once you get going. Here’s a list of things you can do instead: -Just do your main strength movements and skip everything else. -Reduce the weights on some or all exercises. -Perform fewer sets and/or reps on some or all exercises. -Remove all barbell exercises and perform the same exercises with other implements (dumbbells, kettlebells, etc.) -Remove all high intensity intervals or replace them with lower intensity, steady state cardio. -Scrap your planned workout and do a short circuit of movements that make you feel good. One of my favorites is 5 rounds of 20 seconds work, 40 seconds rest each of goblet squats, kettlebell swings, TRX rows, and pushups. -Scrap your planned workout and do 10-20 minutes of mobility drills or easy bodyweight exercises. -Scrap your planned workout and do a 20-40 minute session of low intensity, steady state cardio (not running). • Did I miss any of your favorites?
