Happy Thursday! Today’s #anerisbrandingmoment is all about professional makeup and branding sessions. I can’t even begin to tell you the number of times I’ve had consultations where the moment I mention that professional makeup is needed for your branding session I’ve gotten push back or the infamous, “I’m not a makeup kinda person. I’m very natural.” “I’ve notice that the makeup is really heavy and I like my makeup very light.” Well, I’m here to tell you...I don’t wear makeup everyday and actually I prefer a fresh face with minimal makeup, but the first thing I do when I know I’m gonna be in front of the camera is book a session with a professional makeup artist. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My theory is simple. Why invest in a professional portrait session for your brand and half step the process to prep for your session? Styling your brand and spending the time to produce a quality brand session allows you to communicate an intentional message, attracting your ideal audience, enticing them to want to work with you and encouraging them to pay attention to what you have to say and offer.
The number one thing you need to remember about makeup for portrait sessions is that the camera never captures makeup and color in quite as much vibrancy as is visible in real life. Therefore, it is very important that you apply more makeup for portrait sessions than you would for going out and looking nice in real life. Even if you want a subtle makeup look in your photos, you still need to really exaggerate the makeup you're applying, because it will not show up as strong through the camera. Light bouncing off of makeup changes the way it looks, and makes it look less dramatic than it really is, and we are always lighting our subjects during a portrait session, whether it be natural or artificial light.
I provide a list of my preferred makeup artists to my clients once they book and when clients trust the process they love the results! I’m allowed to take their vision and make it a visual reality! ...and just like that it’s the 1st of May and you know the saying, “April showers bring May flowers.” Well, double tap if you’re ready for those flowers and that warm weather. May is definitely a busy month...Graduations, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day weekend are just things on my calendar. How about you? What is one goal you have this month? #MayMoves#newmonth
