Yes. They call this Silent Saturday. For good reason. They didn't even know they were waiting. Can you imagine? This man the twelve (now eleven) disciples had believed to be the Messiah, the Liberator, the Avenger had been brutally murdered. What about the promises? What about those miracles? What about Lazarus? Maybe they forgot about Lazarus. It seems they had lost all hope. The writers of the four gospels don't even mention the second day. Is it possible they didn't even know they were waiting? I think so. But maybe not... All they had now were memories of Friday. The scourging. The bloodied face and naked body. His words. Oh gosh! His words! His words were so gracious...and wait a minute (maybe they thought)....powerful! Wait...that makes no sense. His words WERE POWERFUL! Here he was dying on that torture stake and He prayed for those who put him there! Then He said - into YOUR hands Father I commit MY Spirit! Maybe He... HE... just maybe He was who He said He was. It's only Saturday.... . . #verseart #vrsart #sketch #pencilandink #30daysofBibleLettering #LetterForTheLord #illustration #Easter2019

“Yahweh your God is among you, a warrior who saves.” ~Zephaniah 3:17 Today is day nineteen of @byd@bydesignorg Names of God Study and Lettering Challenge. Immanuel - God is With Us. Immanuel is a name for God that is used three times in Scripture. Twice in Isaiah (prophecy) and once in Matthew (fulfillment of prophecy). This particular name is one we hear around Christmas as God sent His Son Jesus Christ to earth to be born as a baby in Manger. It reveals God’s desire to dwell with us. God may be asking you today to step out in faith, regardless of what the others say or think. Know that you can do so in confidence because “Immanuel” God is with you.
