When people tell me they’ve stopped eating fruit, my question is always why? Fruit has essential vitamins and nutrients your body needs! Here’s a couple top reasons I hear a lot: 1) There’s too much sugar 2) I’m limiting my carb intake My response to 1: This is natural sugar. Unless you’re eating only fruit all day (which is a whole different subject because you’re then not getting enough protein, fats, fiber, etc), your body will metabolize a serving of fruit just fine. What types of sugar does it NOT process well? Fake sugars: sugar alcohols that come from natural sources but are chemically processed into certain foods, sorbitol, etc...the sugar you find in an Equal packet or Mio. My response to 2: If you’re trying to cut down on carbs, is it that you need to cut out healthy carb sources or just eat them in moderation? Eat your fruit in the morning when you need more energy or midday when your energy is low. Eat it with a good, wholesome meal so your body can burn calories while digesting your meal. Completely taking out any one food group (proteins, carbs, fats, fruit, etc) is NOT the answer. What is the answer? It’s what everyone doesn’t want to hear: track your foods and calories. Expend more calories than you take in (to a certain extent...going too low will ruin your metabolism!) to lose body fat (notice I don’t say weight here...it’s not always that simple), expend the same amount as you take in to maintain, and take in more than you burn if you’re trying to gain...and most importantly: BE CONSISTENT. No one does one day of anything and can honestly expect to achieve a goal. It takes time, consistency, and the willingness to take yourself out of your comfort zone. Don’t know where to start? Contact me! I’ll help you! Myself and @journei_2_self just want to help you get on the right track. Even if you just need some free advice. Just message us. But if you want someone to take the time to make sure you’re doing it correctly, go to our website at www.2bepicfn.com.
