How was your weekend? Our little family went to the Turtle Fest, hosted by the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, in Florida this past weekend. 🌴 🐢 ⠀ ⠀ Not only was it super fun for the kiddos...packed with face painting, live music, rides, vendors, and food trucks...but it was educational and eye opening as well. 👀 ⠀ ⠀ I’ve been into the holistic lifestyle for a few years now. I started researching into natural options when I was pregnant with my second baby, I found dōTERRA oils, and the rest is history. My journey has mostly focused on reducing my toxic burden on my body and cleaning up the products in our home to benefit my family’s health. ⠀ ⠀ Sure, I drink from a stainless steel water bottle (mostly because it’s safest to ingest my dōTERRA oils this way...plastic water bottles will leech toxins when you put essential oil in), and I use a metal straw because I find it more refreshing. I made these decisions selfishly for my health...with the added benefit of being better for the environment. ⠀ ⠀ But this weekend was truly eye opening. Yes, it was a fundraiser to benefit the Turtle Rescue...but the underlying theme for the festival was reducing waste, specifically plastics. Plastic straws, bottle caps, netting, floss, bags...all of the above have been found in turtles’ noses or mouths and can be deadly. But what’s even scarier is the implications for our oceans.⠀ ⠀ Plastic doesn’t decompose. It will literally sit around forever...or break down into smaller microscopic pieces that marine life end up ingesting. Crazy fact: 1/4 of fish sampled from fish markets in California contained plastic pieces and fibers. So, chances are we’re eating it too. 🤮⠀ ⠀ My takeaway from the festival was this:⠀ 1️⃣I want to reduce and eventually eliminate all single-use plastic in my life (straws, utensils, grocery bags, ziplock bags).⠀ 2️⃣I will continue recycling as much as I can. ⠀ 3️⃣I will continue to make my own household cleaners in my glass spray bottles which reduces packaging waste and is healthier for us as well. ⠀ ⠀ Is anyone else part of the anti-plastic and zero waste movement? Give me some ideas to make it easier!! 🙏🏼

I had the chance to finally help my baby brother on his food truck this is weekend. He's an example of chasing your passion and turning it into a reality. I'm proud beyond words of his dedication, work ethics, tenacity and creativity! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Businesses ownership/ entrepreneurship and turning dreams into reality, however, is not always glamorous, beautiful or easy. I saw over the weekend the number of hours he and his team put in each of their events. Managing all aspects of it, food quantity/quality, lack of communication from vendors, different personalities of team members and all the ambiguity and fly by-the-seat-of-your-pants moments.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Without thick skin and a strong will to push through hard (very hard) moments, your dreams in a blink of an eye, can die. This goes for all industries! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Having a great support system is a blessing, for dang sure! But the simple but hard the truth is - no one will care or be as passionate as you about YOUR dreams! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your success, your dreams, your future - all of it - depends on no one else but YOU! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #inspiredlife #mindbodyspirit #dreamitdoit #goodvibesalways #believeitspossible #lifeinspired #lifeelevated #liveinthenow #alwaysstaypositive #inspiredtogrow #wanderwear

Growing apart doesn’t change the fact that for a long time we grew side by side; our roots will always be tangled. I’m glad for that. Ally Condie
