Today, November 20th, 2018 Jefferson County CO graduated a new class of Colorado Master Gardeners (CMG). CMGs receive 60 hours of horticulture training. They have ongoing access to continuing education classes and webinars. CMGs go out into the community and online through social media to share research-based information. We are hoping one or two will find a passion for Instagram and join our team. .
The CMG curriculum content is focused on the home gardener (non-commercial) audience. The training combines lectures, online learning, small group discussions and lab-type activities. The training includes: botany, diagnosing tree disorders, herbaceous plants (flowers), identifying insects and entomology, identifying trees and shrubs, entomology, plant pathology, lawn care, mountain gardening, pruning, small fruits and fruit trees, soils, fertilizers, soil amendments, vegetables, landscaping and weed management. On-going yearly continuing education is part of being a Colorado Master Gardener.
If you love gardening and want to explore the opportunity to be a CO Master Gardener, contact your local CSU Extension County Office and apply. More information is available at http://www.cmg.colostate.edu/about.shtml
