ARE YOU TRAINING THE RIGHT AMOUNT? . Two of the most common training mistakes people make are 1) training too much or 2) training too little. . Earlier today, I was listening to Mind Pump (which is a fantastic podcast that you should definitely check out) and they spent some time discussing the importance of training the appropriate amount. . Often times in the fitness industry, it can seem like more is always better. However this is not always the case when it comes to training. If the Mind Pump podcast episode, they made a great basketball analogy. . If the basketball hoop is 10 feet away and you throw the ball 9 feet, you miss. But you also miss if you throw the ball 11 feet. . Training is the same way; you can do too little and not see results, or you can do too much and not see results. You need to find the right amount of volume and intensity that it right for you. When trying to determine what that amount is, start with less. You are better off undershooting and slowly moving up, rather than overshooting and trying to rein it in, as you are more likely to physically and mentally damage yourself if you take on too much too fast. . The goal is to do the least amount that is going to get you results. Less is not always enough. More is not always better. In order to be successful with fitness, it is crucial to figure out what the right amount for you is, and then stick to it! . That’s all for today!
