During my 3rd trimester, I moved into doing prenatal yoga daily instead of high intensity workouts. By this time, my body was carrying a lot more weight, my muscles were more tired, and my body NEEDED the slow movements to thrive. Here's my favorite prenatal yoga routine: .. .. 1.) Sukhasana (Easy pose) Sit cross-legged with your palms facing up or down on your thighs. Breathe in and out for 1 minute. .. .. 2.) Side Bends- Reach your arm overhead, palm facing midline and lean over. Hold for 30 seconds. Repeat on the other side. .. .. 3.) Cat and Cow- Come to tabletop position with your knees on a folded blanket. Inhale and reach your sternum through the gateway of your arms, opening your chest. Exhale, round your upper back and spread through your shoulder blades. Repeat 5-10 each. .. .. 4.) Vajrasana (thunderbolt pose) Tuck toes under and walk hands back until your sitting, resting on your heels. Hold for 10 breaths. .. .. 5.) Tree pose: Stand up slowly and grab onto a chair for extra balance if needed - pull one foot up to just below your knee and balance on other foot. (Like in my photo). .. .. 6.) Temple Pose- Bring your hands to your hips and turn both heels midline, externally rotating your femur bones in your hip sockets while pointing toes forward. Bend knees and reach arms overhead. We got to spend the weekend celebrating my husband’s grandmother turning 91!! It was such a blessing. She is an incredible matriarch. She’s smart, strong, kind and she’s weathered a lot of adversity. I’m blessed to have joined her family through our marriage. She lives in Wisconsin, so we don’t get to see her as much as we’d like, but hopefully we’ll drive up there again one of these days. The weather here is amazing, so we’re going to spend as much time outside as possible. Core muscles are built by ..... ⁣ ⁣ CONSISTENCY ⁣ ⁣ SWEAT⁣ ⁣ WEIGHTS⁣ ⁣ FOOD ⁣ ⁣ ..... and sometimes a little fun with paper towels for me. ☺️⁣ ⁣ I get asked about “how to get abs”. Whether it’s trying to lose the fat around your mid section or just getting your abs to show themselves at all.⁣ ⁣ The answer is that it is not just one thing. It’s putting together ALL of these things and balancing them out to get the desired results you are looking for. ⁣ ⁣ There are very few ab exercises that I do but I find these fun and engaging to the whole body. Grab some paper towels or rags to go underneath your feet and slide away.
