Think you have a food intolerance or sensitivity? And want to know what to? All you need is a pen and paper!! 📝 . For individuals who suffer from poor digestion, very often certain foods can be a trigger to these negative digestive symptoms.. This means we struggle to digest these foods and they essentially sit on our digestive system and bring on the negative symptoms like bloating, cramps, diarrhoea or constipation 😖 . These triggers can be anything from the usual suspects, like wheat and dairy, to seemingly harmless veggies like onions, avocado and garlic 🍞🥛🥑 . Temporarily eliminating these trigger foods is a key part of getting the gut to full health, with the intention of reintroducing them once the repair process is complete. But how do we know which ones to eliminating? . The easiest way to determine food intolerances is with a pen and paper!! 📝 Or the notes section of your phone 📲😉 . Take a 3 day food diary, recording everything you eat and any adverse symptoms you get after (bloating, pain, distension, brain fog or lethargy). From there it is quite straight forward to identify your trigger foods. . We would always recommend following an elimination diet under the guidance of a nutritionist or dietician, as elimination diet can cause nutrient deficiencies. Furthermore, eliminating these foods is only a small part of the digestive repair process. Once the foods are removed, we need to fix what is going wrong! We’ll be touching on the other components later this week ❤️ . #digestivehealth #guthealth #bloating #IBS #SIBO

Have you heard about earthing or grounding? There are many grounding techniques but one of the best is to go for a walk barefoot along the sand at a beach. - So, why bother grounding? Some of the science-backed benefits of grounding include: *Regulates cortisol, your body’s main stress hormone (better regulation means you recover from stress quickly, instead of having feeling anxious long after the stressful event) *Neutralises free radicals, which are highly reactive molecules that damage cells *Reduces inflammation *Reduces stress *Improves sleep *Reduces some risk factors of cardiovascular disease *Reduces pain *Shifts the body from the stressed fight-or-flight mode to the restorative rest-and-digest mode

We all (should) know the number on the scale doesn’t define you or your worth, but what it does do is provide data. ⁣ ⁣ I'm all about keeping it real. No BS, just real talk.⁣ So here it is...⁣ I’m struggling with the scale. Yes, I’ve admitted it, but hear me out.⁣ ⁣ As a fitness and lifestyle coach, and also Human, the scale has not been my friend these past few weeks and not doing me any favors, but since I use the scale as a tool for data, it has confirmed (and consistently) that I’ve gained weight. And this is really messing with me, mentally, emotionally, and physically. So uncomfortable.⁣ ⁣ Since I track and control myself and all other variables, I can assure you it’s not the scale, it’s not my macros, it’s not my training, it’s not my sleep, it’s not something I am doing ‘wrong’ in that sense, however, the only source left are my hormones. Talk about feeling powerless and losing control. Ladies, the shit we go through, ugh!⁣ ⁣ Maybe someone can help shed some light on this - Mirena?⁣ ⁣ Over the past few months, I’ve been feeling a lot of 'changes' which I’ve managed to deal with and at the end of the month, it all balances out - hormonal magic and stuff. ⁣ Fast forward to this month, and it’s been 3+ weeks there's been a sudden spike in the scale and nothing, that I can do or control has been working to bring it down. I spoke to my doctor, and she informed me that with Mirena, it’s normal for the amount of hormones produced to breakdown towards the end of its shelf life. Makes sense - everything expires. ⁣ ⁣ Needless to say, this post has nothing to do with the scale or my worth, this is where it has come in use as I’m now able to use its data to determine the underlying issue with my health and hormones. This is why I love tracking and collecting data, as tedious as it is, you can’t measure what you don’t track. So there it is ladies. Know yourself.⁣ Ladies, have any of you gone or are currently going through something similar? ⁣ Please be kind. 💖

This is a common concern. Patients will come in saying that their previous doctor looked at their thyroid labs and they were normal, but they still feel like crap! Unbelievably common and your not alone! Yes, the thyroid hormones plays a huge role on how we function and feel, but they are not the only hormones to consider. Your body is made of “male” and “female” hormones, adrenal hormones, and neurotransmitters that all play an integral role that when they are off can make us feel like crap! You can’t look (or treat) a single system and expect to have the answers. In addition, you have to consider how these hormones are being used within the body. Your body might produce the hormones just fine, but then the receptors or the enzymes that help clear hormones are not working properly. So let me tell you if your labs are normal and you feel bad, there is hope! Find a physician or your local naturopathic doctor that will look at your overall health and not just the labs, so that you can get back to living your best life💗 . .
