This day happened. It’s definitely necessary to learn to appreciate the comforts we are given every single day in society. Warm beds, hot food, fresh clothes, over the counter medicine, running water. You don’t actually know how much you take those things for granted until they are all stripped from you. I’ve been in plenty of situations without any of the above. I dig so deep into that mindset that i PAID to be submerged in a frozen river and suffer mild hypothermia and the beginning stages of frost bite. My toes are still numb. There are people who live in these conditions, without the medical staff and safety structure in place. I don’t ever want to be in a position where I spend a single day of my life thinking that my life sucks or the situation I’m in is something i can’t get out of. I got in the river.
