Matt Marks (@mattmarksmusic) is a founding member of Alarm Will Sound, he performs as a French hornist, vocalist, and keyboardist. Matt is also a composer of darkly comic opera-theater works and instrumental/electronic music that experiments with narrative and pop idioms. His most recent album, the post-Christian nihilist pop opera, The Little Death: Vol. 1 was praised as “cheerily seductive” by The New York Times (@NYTimes) and “unabashedly boppy, baroquely multireferential, then suddenly sentimental” by Time Out New York (@timeoutnewyork). Matt grew up in Downey, CA, a suburb of L.A. His parents Jerry and Henrietta Marks had a @Volkswagen parts business called "Jerry's V-dub Heaven." His dad is from L.A. and mother is from a small town in Arkansas called Nashville. They are now retired, after working together on another business fixing up @Porscheengines.
Suzanne Marques (@suzmarques), his sister, is a reporter for CBS news in Los Angeles. She's done entertainment news for years but she has recently been filling in as anchor for morning and primetime news.
Matt lives in Brooklyn, NY with Mary Kouyoumdjian (@marykouyoumdjian), his finacée, their two dogs Hooper and Lucy, and their cat Bouzouki.
