*sound on. To do or not to do palate surgery - before and after.
That raspy panting you hear Milly making at the beginning of the video ... NOT a healthy or normal sound. That noise is made by a small flap of soft tissue banging around in the back of her throat while she is trying to suck air past it. Most frenchies make this sound to some degree when playing or out of a walk or just panting, yet their owners can’t seem to hear it for some odd reason. 🙉
Yes, that is a dog struggling for air, believe it or not. She may look happy, but she’s struggling. 😟 A healthy dog’s airway is basically silent when panting. 🤫
The second part of the video is after surgery. So much easier to breathe. You can hear the difference. Milly didn’t have this surgery until she was 8 years old because I used to be one of those owners who was seemingly deaf to the noise. My only regret is waiting for so long to get it done for her. There is no worse feeling than not being able to breathe, for man and animal alike. #elo#elongatedsoftpalatees #elongatedsoftpalate #breedtobreathe#brachycephalic#staphylectomy#airwaydisease
