(Major shoutout to everyone that rode with me, Friday-today!! I had so much fun with y’all, thanks for spending MDW with me🤟🏽) check the sched for June’s theme rides 😛 @cyclebpm
I am NOT a distance runner, it’s not apart of my workout regimen, and actually try to avoid it because of a knee injury... so when I tell you I ran a 10mi race yesterday 👟 it’s a BIG DEAL!!!!
Thanks to @morganglunt for convincing me to sign up for the 10mile #BroadStreetRun because I didn’t think I could do it, didn’t think I wanted to do it (hah!), and was a little overwhelmed with the idea of running more than 1 mile 😁
Soooo I didn’t practice or prepare the conventional way people think you prep for a a long race BUT only running 4 times to prepare, I was able to CRUSH the race! I ran an 8:15 min/mi pace, broke 8-min pace on mile 6 and 8 AND the last mile ran a 6:54-min mile!!!!! •
I went into the race with a stomach bug 🤢🤮 but tried to focus on just making it through one mile at a time without thinking about feeling sick, or my knee hurting... so, HOW DID I TRAIN for a race without physically running? SPINNING 🚲 @cyclebpm with all of my dedicated riders who keep me motivated and push me every damn day! •
With the excitement of the race, knowing summer is around the corner and wanting to improve both mentally and physically, COME RIDE WITH ME!!!
Teaching this week
I started teaching originally because I was going to the gym at 9:30 M-F. The free gym membership was a nice perk, earning a paycheck on top of that was the icing.
I never discounted how amazing it was to get paid to work out. Then I realized what was most important.
I never became an instructor because of the money. I did it because I went to classes so often, I thought, “I could do that...”
I have met so many amazing people through teaching. (She is just one of the many) @bkwartnik36
Being able to change peoples lives and their mentality has been THE GREATEST reward.
Building confidence, strength, endurance...giving them an outlet, a reason to lace up their sneakers, or clip in their spin shoes....
Try new things, get uncomfortable...
I just want to say, thank you all for trusting me. I am so, so lucky!
And finally-the biggest thank you to Lisa Reynolds for helping me get started on this journey in 2009 and @jcuesta07@sydddruth for having faith in me 🙌
Way too lame to have been able to stay up to watch the ball drop, but what a year it was. Cheers to all. 2017, thanks for the memories. You were quite a year! New beginnings, challenges, and friendships #lifetimekop#cyclebpm
