For the first time, our Prints and Drawings collection officially 'visited' the new Courtauld academic campus at Vernon Square, Kings Cross this week. Four drawings were displayed for one day only in our Object Handling Room. Students and staff warmly discovered the impressive new space and glimpsed at an array of fascinating works on paper.
Our fabulous Print Room Assistants presented on these drawings, including a rapidly sketched double sided preparatory design of the Conversion of St Paul by Parmigianino. An ink study by Bernini showed an amusing caricature of a man over indulging before the start of lent. Finally, Adriaen van de Vanne's red chalk drawing depicted a romantic young couple skating on a frozen lake. Everyone was fascinated by their flamboyant, and impractical, skating outfits!
Our Prints and Drawing Study Room can be visited by appointment. For more details visit our website. #inourcollection#courtauld#courtauldgallery#courtauldcollection
