He drew people out and put them at ease simply by asking a few open ended questions: What makes you happy? What do you like to eat? What do you like to cook? And as simply as that he broke the ice between strangers and truly acquainted himself with people on an individual level. So to honour his legacy is my small way, I'd like to begin a thread in the hope of getting to know a little more about y'all by asking the same. What makes you happy? What do you like to eat? What do you like to cook? and to also put in practice the Quran's recommendation... “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.” Finally, I'd like to say something about his death by suicide. It came as a shock and pained me very much. So many of us are trying to live a good life and do a little good, yet we don't realize our worth. Depression and anxiety gets the best of us. Single, married and everything else in between. I know that how difficult it can be sometimes to tune out the whispers of our demons and tune into the music of our precious life. Still, you have to try one day at a time. Remember that you are a beautiful creation of God and your unique ability to show love and compassion to the rest of creation is what the world needs from you. So hang in there, and remember no one's life is perfect but everyone's life is special including yours.
