Some photos of our workshop today. Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped out. We think everyone could take away something useful from our farm. After all, we do a lot that a home gardener could do on a smaller scale. We sowed California native wildflowers, we sheet mulched a whole future hedgerow, we practiced with the broadfork, and we seeded some crops in the nursery. We got a lot done thanks to everyone who came out. Grow more food!
When I had my son, I thought the reason boys play with cars & dinosaurs & girls play with dolls is because thats what society has taught us to give our kids. He was a kid who loved balls & sports above all but he had mostly girl friends so would play dolls too & even liked to dress up in girls clothes sometimes. Having a daughter who loves all things babydolls has opened my eyes to more distinct gender differences. She mimicks me with cleaning, cooking & taking care of her babies. I could never get my son to clean anything for fun! I also think we are living in a time where kids are accepted for choosing toys that go against the gender norms because no two children are the same & we as adults have learned that acceptance & diversity is essential to raising healthy individuals. At least that’s the bubble I live in. 🌈
