Early voting for the Nevada primary election starts today and goes through June 8. Election Day is June 12. More than 200 candidates are running for congressional, statewide and legislative offices in Nevada. Nevada has a closed primary, so only registered Republicans and Democrats can vote for candidates in those partisan races, but all voters can cast a ballot in nonpartisan contests.
Please exercise your American right to vote. This is the one way we as citizens of our democratic republic can directly affect the outcomes of governance in our communities, states and federally. It is the one way we can bring positive change to a current political climate that is steeped in homophobia, misogyny, racism, xenophobia, and religious extremism. I urge everyone to please vote against hateful special interests and against ideologies and platforms that are based in hate mongering despite what we may be told to convince us of any realistic or logical reason to support them.
I call upon all registered Nevada Democrats especially, in particular those in our swing county of Washoe, to show up at the polls and vote based on facts. Educate yourselves on the candidates and issues before casting your vote. We cannot fairly or effectively address financial stability, fair taxes, balanced budgets, or national security if our nation is not first a nation where we KNOW our rights to life, liberty, and happiness are upheld and protected. I’ll be sharing the names of those whom I support and endorse soon. 🗳
