#Repost from @hollywood_ric with @regram.app ... #VintageStyle | In August of 2008, a mysterious man knocked on the apartment door of Kanika Powell (pictured). Powell, who lived alone, did not answer the door. Instead, she asked who was at the door but didn't get a response. When Powell looked through the peephole she saw a man she had never seen before in her life -- a man she thought looked very suspicious. When Powell asked again who was at the door, the man reluctantly answered. He said he worked for the FBI and needed to speak with her about an ongoing investigation. Powell immediately became suspicious and asked to see his ID. The man flashed what appeared to be a fake FBI badge and that's when Powell knew something was wrong. She refused to open the door. The man left in a hurry. Powell immediately called the police and told them about the encounter. The police came to her apartment and canvassed the apartment complex but didn't see anyone suspicious. Powell also told her family and friends about the encounter and was advised to be careful. She said she would be. Five days later there was another knock on her door -- this time by a different man. The man said he had a package for her, but Powell, once again, refused to open the door. The so-called delivery man quickly left. Powell was now terrified. She called her mother and told her about the incident. Her mother, Judy, seemed just as confused by it all as Powell was. Judy warned her daughter again to be careful. And again Powell said she would be. That same day Powell left her apartment to run errands. While she was gone a man -- perhaps the same delivery man -- stood outside her apartment door and waited for her return. When Powell did return, she was gunned down in a hail of bullets. Kanika Powell, at just 28, was dead. To date no one has ever been charged for her murder, and police still don't have a motive as to why she was killed. May she RIP! | c. 2008. #KanikaPowell #PhotoOfTheDay #PicOfTheDay #BlackIsBeautiful #BlackLivesMatter
