Sometimes positive affirmations or “unreasonably optimistic thinking” like saying “I am strong and successful” in front of a mirror 10 times can actually cause more harm than healing. It’s surface level, and a lot of times it’s forced and seems fake. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My therapist introduced me to something called realistic self-talk and it is a game changer. It taps into the subconscious where your limiting beliefs really live. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Pick a saying, not too long, make it *key word* REALISTIC and post on your bathroom mirror, on your nightstand, in your car— somewhere where you can see it multiple times a day and repeat it to yourself. Focus on PROGRESS, not perfection. Make them unique to your circumstances.
Here are some examples:
1️⃣ Look at what I have accomplished and I am still progressing.
2️⃣ I am worthy and a good person.
3️⃣ I have the skills to get through unpleasant emotions.
Once you have yours, be bold and share it below or DM me for some more suggestions, I would love to carry on the conversation. 💗
