🥕CARROT & LENTIL FRITTERS🥕 Who doesn’t love a fritter?! So easy to make and so many different ways to make them. A great way to add lots of veggies. A great on the go food - and so many ways to spice them up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I used @myfussyeater recipe for inspiration and just tweaked it a little: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ INGREDIENTS 100g red lentils 75g grated carrot 100g plain flour (I used oat flour) 2 eggs 75ml milk 100g grated cheese 1 clove garlic crushed 1/2 tbsp chopped fresh chives 1/4 tsp paprika, turmeric, cumin 1 tbsp oil (to cook in) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ METHOD Cook lentils in pan of boiling water for 10 mins until nice and soft In a bowl, mix eggs, milk, flour Add the rest of ingredients and mix well Heat oil in a pan and take a tbsp of mixture and fry until golden brown on each side. EAT AND ENJOY!

I had a great conversation with my friend @loveandzest recently regarding #babyledweaning and how it seems to be the “in” thing to do these days. I absolutely love BLW and am glad we as a family chose to do it. Having said that, I can see how all this bombardment of BLW can leave mamas who are feeding purees feeling somewhat ashamed & defeated. And that really compelled me to share this with you all —— As you know, I shared Caleb’s meals since day 1 of starting solids here in this feed. I didn’t realize it then but now that I’m scrolling through the old posts, I can see how it can actually be a source of negative comparison. If this feed made you feel bad in any way, I’m truly sorry That was definitely not my intention 😢. Here’s the thing. You know how goal driven I am and at that time, my #1 goal was to introduce Caleb to as many different foods as I possibly can during that first year of life. And listen, I wasn’t working at that time and had one baby who was a great sleeper. I really had all the time in the world to devote time in the kitchen, and that was (and continues to be) my much needed source of creative outlet —— Also, let’s talk about #BLW. I recognize that there are a lot of dos and don’ts associated with it. My personal opinion? There’s only one DO and that is: follow your mother’s intuition. period. For instance, I get a lot of msg from mamas that sound almost ashamed that they are serving purées. And my answer is there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! If you see my day 5 post, I shared about how I’m giving pureed meat bc I was super paranoid about his iron intake. YOU DO YOU! And if anyone tells you that you’re doing it all wrong, just politely tell them that you got this! 💪 —— 💕BLW is not all-or-nothing nor the end-all-be-all. Regardless of what weaning method you choose and what our children eat or don’t eat, we should be proud of ourselves every.single.day that we’re taking care of our little humans the best way we know how and that at the end of the day, they are fed and loved big!

Zayne likes everything I served, so really he enjoyed this meal. I often get messages asking how he eats the passion fruit strait from the shell - I use a spoon to loosen the pulp from the shell, and then he ‘drinks’ it. I’ve included a short video showing him doing this. Quinoa for kids growth 🙌🏻🙌🏻. I am certainly not the first to the quinoa party but I am so on board with it. Recipe ⬇️⬇️ • Given the tiny-ness of my twins at birth, monitoring growth became a big deal for me. I spent (too much) time researching what to do. Once they hit solids I became fascinated by the role nutrition plays in growth and development. • I knew I had to make sure proteins were present in their diet, particularly complete proteins. Fortunately my little two-some were pretty good with all the usual protein sources, but I was always looking for alternatives... which is when I became obsessed with quinoa. • I basically like to treat quinoa the way I would a great risotto dish. The bonus is that this is so easy and quick to make! • - 1 cup quinoa + 2 cups water - Greens of choice - I used 1 zucchini diced, 2 cups chopped kale and 1 cup chopped broccoli - 2 cloves garlic, minced - 1 small onion, diced - Olive oil and/or butter for sautéing - 1 cup cheese (cheddar, Itaian blends and parmesan all work well) Make quinoa according to instructions (typically bring quinoa to boil in water and then reduce and simmer covered for 15 mins before fluffing with a fork). While quinoa is cooking, sauté onion, garlic and zucchini until onions and zucchini have softened. Add kale and broccoli. Sauté about another 5-8 mins. Add cooked quinoa and cheese and combine. Salt and pepper to taste. I add cheese to taste, it’s really up to you how much to include.
