Deir El-Bahri is the most famous and the most visited among the temples of Western Thebes, and is one of the most beautiful of the royal mortuary temples in Egypt. The temple of Hatshepsut's at Deir El-Bahri is the largest, best preserved, and arguably the most impressive temple at the site due to its design and decorations, it's decorated with carved reliefs illustrating some of the great events of Hatshepsut’s reign, these include the transportation of obelisks from the quarries in Aswan to the temple of Amun at Karnak, it's built of limestone. Its building has been carved out of a stone mountain. Its construction took fifteen years, between the 7th and the 22nd years of her reign. It's located on the west bank of the Nile in Luxor in Egypt. The temple faces east and is nestled in front of a shear rock cliff that surrounds it in the shape of a fan. It's almost directly opposite to Karnak Temple. The name Deir El-Bahri derives from the former monastery built during the Coptic era. In the 7th century AD, it was named after a Coptic monastery in the area, known as the “Northern monastery”. Today it is known as the Temple of Deir El-Bahri, which means in Arabic, the “Temple of the Northern monastery”. The first monument built at the site was the mortuary temple of Mentuhotep II of the Eleventh dynasty. #museide #egipt #dec#decorativearts #historicalbuildings #theworldofinteriors #travel #instatravel #tourist #tourism #instago #wonderlustegipt #postcards #travelpics #travelblogger #travelphotography #architecture #decor #interior #luxurylife #lifestyle #temple #monument #instaegipt #archidaily #architectureporn #archilover #archi_feature #majestic_view #golden_focus
