Stretching is boring and not a whole lot of fun. It’s something that I neglect way too often and need to be better at!
Stretching can be the biggest obstacle for those who don’t work on their flexibility. It can cause movement restrictions, joint instability, poor posture, and wear on the joints leading to injury.
🧘🏼♀️ GOAL: try to stretch at least 5 days/week for 10-15 minutes!
Active stretching is best pre-exercise because it helps loosen up tight muscles and aids in proper body mechanics. Try moving into a stretched position for ~3sec for 5-10 times.
Static stretching is best for post-exercise to help lengthen tight muscles. Hold a stretch ~30sec for 3-5 times.
Stretching post-workout is best while your body is still warm. It will take time and consistency but you will notice change in your performance!
