Of course, that goes for people and dreams, also. Anyone who has had the misfortune of having a Narcissist in their life has chased after people and dreams that were beneath the truth of who they truly are. My brain has been on the edge again lately and it’s so hard to remember this. I go straight to my old defense systems and patterns of behavior. I’m still so quick to ignore my pain and try to shove it away because other things are more important and there isn’t enough time in the day to deal with me anyway...I guess what I’m trying to say is that I hope this helps someone as much as it helps me. 💙💙💙 #cptsd #abuserecovery #mentalhealthawareness #complexptsd #ptsdawareness #developmentaltraumadisorder #selflove #selfcompassion #onedayatatime #emotionalflashbacks #recoveryispossible

People often are in a hurry for their unpleasant feelings to go away, or get frustrated with loved ones if their unpleasant feelings linger longer than they believe they “should”. Grief is different for everyone, and it usually takes some time to work through all the feelings associated with emotional trauma, even years. We live in a society where negative feelings are shunned but doing so only prolongs the healing process. emotionalhealth #pts#ptsdeness #gri#grief #ptsd #therapist #pain #emotionalpain #ptsdrecovery #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #ins#instaquote> #instaquote #griefsupport #mentalhealthblog #mentalhealthblogger #blog #blogger #bloggerlife #grief #instablog #griefandloss #wisconsin #madisonwi #trauma #instagramers #traumainformed #instablogger #abuserecovery #traumatherapist #traumatherapy

It is important to understand that intelligence has nothing to do with emotional trauma. Often, I hear patients wonder, “How could I have been so stupid to allow her to hurt me?” Or, “How could I have been stupid to fall for a guy like that?” When it comes to emotions, our reactions and behaviors are frequently led by trauma and are not caused by a lack of cognitive intelligence; some kinds of abuse, such as from people with narcissistic personality disorder, for example, is elusive and covert and can bring down even the most emotionally stable person. Removing our hands from our neck when we experience disappointments allows us to examine something new about ourselves and others in order for growth to occur. Beating oneself up only reinforces the trauma and is therefore not productive. An excellent example of the notion that intelligence has nothing to do with emotional trauma is the TV show, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, in which Rebecca Bunch is a successful attorney from both Harvard and Yale and has multiple college degrees, yet has abandonment issues which leads her to experience massively painful relationships with men and by Season 2 attempts suicide. #trauma #traumarecovery #compassion #love #empathy #psychotherapist #traumainformed #emotionalabuse #emo#emotionalintelligence #emotionalhealth #narcissisticabuse #narcissisticabusesurvivor #narcissisticpersonalitydisorder #abuse #abuseawareness #abuserecovery #griefsupport #emotionalintelligence #intelligence #wisconsin #madisonwi #sui#suicideprevention #blog #blogger #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #men#mentalhealthblog/a> #mentalhealthblog #suicide #mentalillness #mentaldisorder
