Recently underwater archaeologists found a sunken ship in Israel's Bay of Haifa. While only bits of the hull, keel and planking remain, researchers uncovered ceramics from Cyprus, Syria, and Southern Italy as well a stash of 30 gold florins minted in the Italian Republic of Florence. It is believed that this ship was loaded with trade goods and gold and was involved in the siege of Acre in 1291. It might have been transporting reinforcements to the battle from Henry II, the Christian king of Cyprus, or carrying fleeing crusaders. Join Dr. John Hale as he discusses this incredible find!
