Here are a couple of images from last week, what a thrilling performance that was to 📸 @abtofficial ❣️❣️💥
This piece is in the Washington Post, and by Sarah Kaufman.
So Austin Powers❣️💥
Ah yes, Manon❣️🥂💥
Today I get to 📸 both the @abtofficial Manon dress and opening performance tonight. My memories go in funny directions. In 1993 when we first danced it, I was one of the “Whores,” and I recall musing that of everyone on stage I truly understood the swamps of Louisiana, where our ship docks in Act 3. I also was very competitive about my Act 3 makeup, earning accolades for it from politicians, see photo 3 for proof. 😆😆
The next year, I got elevated to dancing Courtesans. This meant a major upgrade in wigs and I got to dance short duets with my friend, Amy Wilder. That takes me back to a memory of a 6-7 run-thru at 890, Studio 1. As Amy and I started our little dance, who rolls into the doorway by the mailboxes? Just Patrick Swayze❣️💥😮😱 Standing there, watching and smiling at all of us. He was working at 890, and just thought he’d pop by.
I recall how excited we all were— the ripple of OMG, it’s him❣️❣️💥
I even recall what I was wearing.
And then there were the exquisite performances..... I started to 📸 ABT in 1996, so it wasn’t until Manon returned that I 📸 it. Including Julio Bocca’s ABT retirement. ❤️
SO excited to see AILEY tonight, this special evening and @darrellmoultrie new work❣️💥
