Daily Bible Reading Encouragement ✝ Daily Scripture with key questions on what jumps out, why, and how it will change your life! #readwithpurpose
1 Thessalonians chapter 2 verse 13 stood out to me. "And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe." This is such a powerful statement...that the word of God is at work in our lives as believers. We need to saturate ourselves with the word of God. For the longest time in my life as a believer, I didn't understand the power of Gods word nor the power of the Holy Spirit. Get into God's word each day and pray for God to himself to you through His word. I needed this today because I have been so anxious and focused on my church and the issues there, that I have not been reading and spending nearly as much time with God. God has indicated that it is time to serve somewhere else and so we are looking ahead to what He has next for us. In the meantime, back to focusing on His word and my relationship with Him. I really let myself get distracted with so many other things on the last few months. . Lord, reveal to me your will. Help me to saturate my life with your word and change me into who YOU want me to be. . 1 Thessalonians chapter 1! What stood out to me was verse 3..."We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." This is such a beautiful statement of lives lived for the Lord! I spent some time just marvelling at this verse...all points to Christ and what our lives can look like with Christ at the center. Is it easy? Definitely not and as this verse indicates it takes endurance (inspired by our hope in Christ). Faith, love and hope! The believers in Thesalonica demonstrated this on their lives. Their love for Jesus had caused them to labor for Him and their hope in Christ's return had produced steadfast endurance. They demonstrated the grace that Paul describes in Ephesians 2:8–10. God's grace had saved them when they put their faith in Christ rather than endeavoring to be saved by their own efforts. The same grace had produced in them the good works God had intended to produce in their lives. . Lord, thank you for your grace which allows us to live a life worthy of Christ. Help us to persevere and produce good works inspired by the hope we have in Christ!! . What stood out to you in 1 Thessalonians chapter 1? I have missed you guys but I had a nice vacation and a much needed break from everything. Our next books to read together with PURPOSE is 1 and 2 Thessalonians! Reading God's Word with Purpose is a great say to be consistent in your reading and to allow God to meet you where you are. Read 1 chapter each day and learn to hear God's voice through His word. It's simple and powerful. . Follow these 3 simple steps as you read: 1. What jumps out at me when I read the Scripture? The purpose of this question is to start the process of being in tune with the Holy Spirit. It may be a verse of Scripture, a word, theme of the chapter, nothing at all, a question or something else. Remember, the Holy Spirit is speaking to you on your spiritual journey through God’s word and only He knows you better than you know yourself. . 2. Why? . The purpose of this question is to get you and the Holy Spirit on the same page. Answering this question will uncover what the Holy Spirit is trying to teach you. . 3. How does this insight from God’s word change the way I live my life? . The purpose of this question is to move you from being a hearer of God’s word to a doer of God’s word. As you live the insight that you are given, you become more and more like Jesus through your thoughts and actions. . Prayer for the day . The purpose of writing your prayer for the day is to tap into the power of God so he will empower you through the Holy Spirit to live the insight that you have been given. . Journaling what jumps out at you and why is helpful as well and gives great insight into your spiritual journey. Join me in reading 1st and 2nd Thessalonians! I would love to hear what jumps out at you! #god#godslove #godsword #readwithpurpose #dailydevotional #bible #biblestudy #biblejournaling #dev#devotions #prayer #readhisword #acts #god #holyspirit #lovehisword #wisdom #faith #changeyourlife #learmore #verse #verseoftheday #scripture #devotions #livingword #thessalonians

Such wise words in Colossians chapter 4! "Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." . What does making the most of every opportunity mean to me? I think about the many people that we come into contact with every day who may not know the Lord or who may be downcast or troubled. Each of these is an opportunity to reach out and show God's love and grace. A kind word, a helping hand, an encouraging talk, praying with them, sharing the good news of the gospel. Paul is encouraging us to make the most of each of these opportunities. God is really convicting me on this one as I know that lately I have been self absorbed in the busyness of my days. . But Paul also tells us that our speech should be full of grace. We don’t always know other people’s experiences or past that gives them their perspective and so we need to show kindness and grace as we still speak truth as prompted by the Holy Spirit. . How does this change my life? (a good question to ask as you read in order to become a doer of the word). I will be more intentional to be aware of those around me and to listen for the Holy Spirit to guide me to notice those in need around me. Lord, forgive me for being self-absorbed lately and give me eyes to see those around me as you see them. Give me the words and wisdom in each situation to represent Christ and to speak with love and grace. . What stood out to you in Colossians chapter 4? Love all of your comments!. I loved Colossians Chapter 3! Sometimes God just speaks directly to my heart and this was one of those times. "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful." When things around us in this world get hectic and there is turmoil around us, only Christ can give us the peace that rises above our circumstances. It's so easy to focus on these things and let our minds be filled with the turmoil and emotions around us. But in Colossians it says says we were called to peace as members of one body. . Lord, let my mind and heart be filled with the peace that only Christ can bring. As I pray on this verse, I can feel your strength and peace flow through me. Thank you for your constant love and guidance. Thank you for the sacrifice of Christ who died on the cross for our sins. Help us to remember that Easter is all about Christ and his death on the cross and resurrection from the dead! . In Colossians Chapter 2, being rooted and built up is what stood out to me. "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Such great encouragement on how we should live our lives as believers. I thought about being "rooted" in the word and in Christ. A tree that has strong roots withstands the wind and storms and also has healthy growth and bears fruit. If we want to be rooted and grow in our faith, we MUST be in God's word regularly! God will strengthen our faith and knowledge as we read and study. . The last part of this passage is to be overflowing with thankfulness! As we approach Easter, I am so thankful for a risen savior and for the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. I am so thankful for those of you that read along with us! God bless you! . In Colossians Chapter 1, there is so much to absorb, but what really stood out to me was verse 10 "so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God," This is what God desires for us...first bearing fruit in every good work. We bear fruit and do good works in order to please God because we love Him and desire to please Him. When we have this selfless and humble attitude, God works in and through is and we WILL bear fruit for Him. Second, God desires that we grow in the knowledge of him. How do we do that? One of the best ways is through intentional reading and studying of His word. Remember, God will meet you where you are in your reading. Dont feel that you have to know and understand everything in order to start...just get started with 1 chapter each day and look for what jumps out at you (the purpose) and then ask God to teach and reveal to you what He wants you to understand. If you do this each day, you WILL grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord.He desires this for us!! What I have found is that I grow in the knowledge of Him, it is so much easier to witness and tell people what God is doing in my life and to bear fruit. In fact, share with someone in your life today what God reveals to you in your reading...its a great start to witnessing. Thank you Lord for your desire to grow us and to bless is through allowing us to bear fruit for you. .
