Happy Feast Day Saint Camillus de Lellis 1550-1614 Feast Day: July 18 Patronage: the sick, #physicians, #nurses, #hospitals, #doctors #SaintCamillusdeLellis was an Italian soldier that overcame his gambling habit and other vices to become a Capuchin Priest. After he received permission from his confessor, St. Philip Neri, he founded the #Camillian order to minister to the sick and wounded soldiers, building hospitals and the first field medical units in the battlefield. The red cross symbol was their sign of charity and service. Happy Feast Day Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast day: July 16 Patron saint of #Chile #OurLady of Mount Carmel is the title given to the #BlessedVirginMary in her role as patroness of the Carmelite Order. The first #Carmelites were Christian hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land during the late 12th and early to mid 13th centuries. They built a chapel in the midst of their hermitages which they dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and celebrated a special Mass and Office in her honor. He’s considered the second founder of the #Franciscans and spoke at the Council of Lyons. In wisdom and humility, he united the pastoral and practical aspects of life with the doctrines of the Church. Happy Feast Day Saint Kateri Tekakwitha 1656-1680 Feast Day: July 14 Patroness: Ecologists, Native Americans #SaintKateriTekakwitha, known as #LilyoftheMohawks was an Algonquin–Mohawk virgin. Born in Auriesville (now part of New York), she was orphaned during a smallpox epidemic, which left her with a scarred face and impaired eyesight. In 1676 she was converted and baptized by Father Jacques de Lamberville, a Jesuit missionary. Shunned by her tribe for her faith, she escaped through 200 miles of wilderness to the Christian Native American village of Sault-Sainte-Marie. Kateri was known for her spirituality and austere lifestyle. Happy Feast Day King Saint Henry II 972-1024 Feast day: July 13 Patronage: the #childless, the #handicapped, those rejected by religious orders, dukes and kings #SaintHenryII was a German king and Holy Roman Emperor. He was educated by St. Wolfgang of Regensburg and succeeded his father, Henry, Duke of Bavaria. In 1002, he became king and in 1014, received the imperial crown at the hands of Pope Benedict VIII, with humility, for the greater glory of God. His goal was to establish peace and foster reform of ecclesiastical and monastic life in Europe.
