Video by @bertiegregory. Rockhopper penguins have got to be one of the toughest animals on the planet. After battling through the open ocean in search of food, this group of adults is returning to their colony on Sea Lion Island in the South Atlantic Ocean. In order to reach their hungry chicks at the top of the cliff they must first time their exit to perfection. Although the rocks and waves are potentially dangerous to the penguins, they are experts in using the power of the wave to eject them out the water and up the cliff. Even though I know they are built like little tanks and they have done this many times before, it鈥檚 still nerve-wracking to watch! Shot as part of a new online series for National Geographic. Follow @BertieGregory for more wildlife videos and to find how I got the shot.

馃帴 @filipe_deandrade | Sea Turtle hatchlings have to be one of the most charismatic wildlife ambassadors on our planet. Despite their off the charts cuteness, no life passes are awarded to them. Natural predators (like magnificent frigatebirds shown here) pose immediate threats to them. But that doesn鈥檛 compare to the damage done by invasive predators, human waste and changing climates. Six out of seven species are now labeled as threatened or endangered. This sucks because they are incredibly important. Sea turtles benefit coral reefs and sea grass beds and when females nest, they transfer nutrients and energy from the ocean to the beach. Simply said, oceans need sea turtles. And since we need our oceans, we need sea turtles. Want to help? Reduce your use of plastics and keep our oceans and beaches clean. Love y鈥檃ll wildlife warriors. - ALSO- I have received a lot of messages about this video and just want to address them here. It is my job as a natural history filmmaker to document wildlife behaviors and share them. I love my job, but it is not easy. One of the hardest things about it is not interfering with nature. Even though I feel terrible for the turtle, the birds have to eat and feed their young. Its not cruel, its nature. And it makes me hopeful to see all the people on here that care about turtles. That is why I offered a few suggestions on how to protect them.

Video and text by Michael Zomer @mik@mikey_business | I believe that your surrounding is the most important source of inspiration for creativity and innovation. When I still was a fanatic skateboarder, I saw a potential skate spot in every stair or marble curb. Nowadays I get inspired by certain interests of people and the energy they bring along, whereas nature or city life influences my choice of composition. Probably for a long time these kids in Brazil only saw this river as a source that kept them alive. Until they got inspired by it. Nossa Rocha means our rock. Now, Nossa Rocha is not just a water source, it PLAYS an important role in their life since they invented their own action sport. . This day is for the birds! It's #NationalBirdDay, and we want to know YOUR favorite feathered friend. Is it the flightless Ostrich? The majestic Eagle? Perhaps it's the Secretary Bird, seen here, with his crown of dark quills. . . . #secretarybird #birdday #birdsofinstagram #forthebirds #nature #naturephotography #wildlife #wildlifephotography #audobon #audobonsociety #conservation #exoticbirds
