Repost from @mountainsideyoganc What does it mean to be curious in your yoga practice? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For some, it can mean trying new things - different types of movement or styles of yoga. For me, I like to be curious within the conventional. Here is a segment of my practice that I include in almost every single class I teach. I love the way it builds in speed and heat, preparing the body for more movement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To reframe something routine I ask myself, where do I feel this movement or pose in my body? What does it feel like? What emotions does it bring up for me? What would it be like if I moved slower, faster, deeper?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When you practice yoga regularly, it can be so easy to lose the connection to what’s happening in your body. Curiosity is this week's theme for our #40daysadhanachallenge “Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” -E.E. Cummings “The important thing is to never stop questioning. Never lose a holy curiosity.” -Albert Einstein Each and every one of us was a child at some point in time. Some of us may have children or grandchildren. Either way, we probably can remember that age, starting somewhere around 3 and seeming to last way too long, where a child continually asks the question “Why?” Their unwavering and persistent curiosity, which may drive us crazy at times, is also endearing. Somewhere along the way, we lose that sense of awe, wonderment, and curiosity. Somewhere along the way, we stop playing and using our imaginations. Somewhere along the way, we start caring more about what others think of us. Somewhere along the way, we stop asking questions. But the truth is, the spirit of that child never leaves. They are still there, waiting for us to acknowledge them again. This week in our 40-Day Sadhana challenge, our theme is curiosity. Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat Pray Love, gives a talk on the power of curiosity. She discusses how curiosity can be a vehicle for creativity and overcoming fear. Oftentimes we put pressure on ourselves to find a particular “passion” in life. Many people face the difficulties of trying to find their passion, and sometimes become disheartened in the pursuit of it. According to Gilbert, curiosity is like a hummingbird- floating from flower to flower, exploring, wandering, and leaving trails of knowledge. She says, “If you’re willing to release yourself from the pressure and anxieties surrounded by passion, and just humbly and faithfully continue to follow the trail of the curious hummingbird path… one of these days, you just might look up and realize, ‘Oh, my word, I am exactly where I’m meant to be.’ In other words, if you can let go of passion and follow your curiosity, your curiosity just might lead you to your passion.” Read more at

Join Tiffany for Warm Power Flow Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. where you most likely will always *play* with arm balances. Repost from @mountainsideyoganc “When do you feel grounded? For me, I always have to reconnect with my body first. Like many of us, I spend so much time in my head. Worrying about the future, obsessing over the past, and generally freaking myself out. To reconnect, I begin by simply noticing my body. Noticing how it feels and any discomfort it’s experiencing. Next, I tune into the most subtle sensations my body is experiencing. I notice my sits bones and legs pressing into the floor. I feel my hands resting on my knees. I feel my clothes resting on top of me and where the air touches my skin. Using all of these sensations, I quiet my mind and return to my body. From there I can find my connection to the earth, grounding down and breathing into and out of this connection. Finding clarity and peace.” #40daysadhanachallenge #grounded
