Literally making #snow at Midway Airport in #Chicago: courtesy of the steam vent + the Arctic cold (-14°), the water vapor turns into ice crystals and accumulates on the downwind side of objects including these evergreens. The glistening crystals are called diamond dust. #PolarVortex

Following the snowstorm we've moved down to the Milwaukee Lakefront as we await the historic cold. Temps fall below zero later Tuesday and stay there until Friday morning with wind chills down to at least -40°. We're back on #weatherchannel 5-8 PM ET.

Here's the view of the #gatewayarch from ~275' above downtown St. Louis. By Friday night it'll be hard to see because of the #snow. That's a reflection of a fire pit "under" it.
